With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Debora Ann Shumaker, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, who left us on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the age of 62. Born on April 7, 1962, in Illinois, Debbie spent her life radiating kindness and love, ultimately making her home in Bristol, Wisconsin.
In every sense of the word, Debbie was a beautiful soul who embodied the essence of compassion and selflessness. Her family’s love was paramount, and she was always there with support, ready to lend a hand or provide comfort. A devoted wife and a nurturing mother, she was the true backbone of her family.
Debbie and her high school sweetheart Paul started their real estate business at a young age. They worked side-by-side for 39 years before retiring and becoming snowbirds. They enjoyed the past few winters in Florida boating, walking the beach, and playing bocce ball.
Debbie found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, such as tending to her garden and playing with her grandchildren. She cherished the outdoors—whether hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, or water skiing, she embraced every moment with enthusiasm. In recent years, she spent a couple days a week improving her golf game. Though she loved to travel, she always carried a profound appreciation for the warmth and familiarity of her Wisconsin home.
Debbie is survived by her devoted husband, Paul Shumaker; and her five cherished children: Savanna (Jake) Hansen, Russell (Melanie) Shumaker, Sally Shumaker, Sara (Jon) Storm, and Shelby Shumaker. Her legacy will also live on through her seven adoring grandchildren: Russell Hansen, Duke Shumaker, Wade Shumaker, Roselyn Hansen, William Storm, Huck Shumaker, and Nicholas Storm. She is also remembered fondly by her mother, Patricia Golwitzer; sister, Kari (Rich) Schroeder; her brother, Dan (Barb) Golwitzer and half-sister, Christine Duarte.
Debora was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Golwitzer; and granddaughter, Scarlet Hansen.
We invite family and friends to gather in her honor, to share stories, laughter, and love, just as she would have wanted. In our memories and hearts, her kindness will forever shine bright, guiding us through our days without her. Let us remember Debbie not with sadness, but with gratitude for the beautiful moments she gave us and the love she shared. Her memory will be cherished in every heartbeat of those she touched.
