Lavetta “Vada” A. Crump, 56, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully Friday, December 13, 2024 at Aurora St. Luke’s in Milwaukee.
She was born on November 18, 1968 to James L. Crump and Belinda Knox in Chicago. She was educated in the schools of Chicago and was involved in the school choir and track as a young girl.
Lavetta lived in Chicago for 20 plus years and then moved her family up to Kenosha in the 1990’s, where she was a caregiver at a nursing home. Aside from her work life she spent most of her time volunteering at a local church and raising her four kids.
Lavetta loved playing board games with family, really any game! She enjoyed cooking and family meals together, loved watching movies from comedy to romance, going to church and singing in the choir, bowling, loved attending sporting events or anything that her kids were involved with. She would tell you about yourself and then make you a plate afterwards and open her home to anyone that needed a place to stay. Lavetta swore she thought she was the funniest person around.
Lavetta is survived by her parents Belinda Crump and Thomas Howell, her children Jeanetta Crump, Keith Crump (Amanda Johnson-Crump) and Arletha Pledger, her grandchildren Jonathan Arispe, Jacob Montesdeoca Jr., Janessa Montesdeoca, Catalaya Pledger and Ahaz Safford and her brother James Crump (Yolanda Crump). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her grandma Elmer Knox and her son Mario Pledger.
A Celebration of Life for Lavetta will be held on Saturday, December 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
