Ellen June Bosman, 99, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Brookside Care Center.
She was born on April 16, 1925, and adopted at age 4 by the late Richard and Elizabeth (DeKok) Tjepkema in Kenosha. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha and attended Kenosha High School. Ellen left high school in 1942 to contribute to the WWII efforts. She was a drill press operator, making aircraft parts at Nash Motors until the War ended in 1945. Ellen was a handler for Coopers from 1945 to 1948 until her marriage.
On June 25, 1948, Ellen married Donald J. Bosman at Kenosha Christian Reformed Church. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1992.
Ellen was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at the time of her death. She was baptized, raised and married in the Kenosha Christian Reformed Church and was active in Women’s Groups and Sunday School.
On her husband’s retirement they moved to St. Petersburg, FL, where they lived for four years until her husband’s death. Ellen returned to Kenosha to be close to her family in 1992.
Ellen was a “proud” 20-year resident of Prairie Ridge Senior Apartments where she loved to bake and prepare food for social events and participated in table games.
In the Fall of 2022, she moved to Brookside Care Center where she enjoyed playing bingo and participating in other activities. She won a bronze medal at the 2024 Senior Olympics in Wii bowling.
Ellen enjoyed bowling and was a lifelong Victory League bowler, enjoyed crafts, hand sewing gingham table clothes, pinwheel bags and pillows.
Ellen is survived by her daughters Marilyn (Dean) Jensen of Kenosha, Sharon (Daniel) Behlman of New Berlin, her grandchildren Jason (Diana) Jensen, Carrie (Nick) Emmerich, Lindsay (Taylor Bennett) Schaffner and Justin (Brittany) Mattson, her three great-grandchildren, Brandon Jensen, Danika and Ray Mattson and a loving sister Beverly Lay of Glenview, IL.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, her daughter Judy Bosman and a brother Maynard Wiersum.
Funeral Services for Ellen will be held on Friday, January 31st at 12:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (8760 37th Ave.). Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Private interment will take place at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
