Harold W.H. DeLap
November 6, 1954 – January 20, 2025
Harold W.H. DeLap, 70, of Trevor, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center with his niece and guardian, Mersadies, by his side.
Born on November 6, 1954, in Kenosha, Harold was the beloved son of the late Vernon A. and Dorothy E. (Neumann) DeLap. He attended Kenosha schools and went on to build a meaningful career at the Kenosha Achievement Center (KAC), where he worked for over 35 years. During his time there, Harold made countless lifelong friends and enjoyed attending leisure activities such as baseball games and trips to the Fireside Theatre.
Harold was a proud member of Peace Ev. Lutheran Church in Wilmot. He loved spending time with his family and brought joy to every gathering, especially during Christmas, when he delighted in playing Santa for his nieces and nephews. Harold cherished his role as a godfather to many great-nieces and great-nephews, spanning over two generations.
An avid sports fan, Harold’s heart belonged to the Green Bay Packers and professional wrestling. He also enjoyed collecting model cars, looking at photos of his family, and sharing stories of his favorite memories. One of the moments Harold held closest to his heart was walking his great-niece and goddaughter down the aisle on her wedding day, which coincided with his 56th birthday—a memory he cherished and proudly shared with everyone.
Harold’s love of music, especially Elvis Presley, was matched only by his love of dancing. His joy for life was infectious, and he had a remarkable ability to bring happiness to everyone he met. Harold treated every day as if it were Friday, joyfully proclaiming, “It’s Friday!” whenever he entered a room—a phrase that perfectly captured his cheerful and optimistic outlook on life.
In recent years, Harold enjoyed attending the Crabtree adult day program, where he made many friends and was adored by staff. He also treasured his visits with longtime friends Tim and Ruth Rush, where he spent countless evenings watching wrestling and sharing meals. Above all, Harold loved being at home, surrounded by family, watching movies, listening to music, and reliving fond memories.
Harold is survived by his siblings Vernon L. DeLap, Bonnie D. (Charles Michael) Cole, and Laurie J. (Donald) Geyer, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
