Waltraut “Trudy” Rojas, age 90, passed away on January 22, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Pfedelbach, Germany to the late Christian and Rosa Katharina (Vollmer) Thier.
In 1955, she married an American soldier, Thomas DeLeon Rojas in Stuttgart, Germany. They had six children, Thomas Benjamin (Debbie) Rojas, Delores Maria Freimark, Lawrence (Alice) Rojas, Robert (Sherry) Rojas, Anita (Tom) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter Linda Rose Becker. She had many grandchildren, as well as great and great-great -grandchildren. She loved them all dearly.
She was a nurse for many years at Kenosha Memorial Hospital. As a little girl she experienced the hardships of WWII. During this time, she witnessed Jewish friends and neighbors taken away by German soldiers. This is a memory that never left her. Towards the end of the war, she would ride her bicycle a long distance to visit her beloved grandmother, Luise Thier. Sometimes she would hear planes flying overhead firing their guns. She would throw herself and her bicycle in the ditch until they were gone. She would not let this keep her from seeing her grandmother who she lost when she was nine years old and later called her guardian angel.
She enjoyed taking care of her plants and loved her cup of tea. Family as well as friends called her Oma. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was of the Lutheran faith.
There will be no public service.
