Lawrence (Larry) Roedema Jr.,78, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 23, 2025 at his home. He was born November 17, 1946, in Racine, Wisconsin, the son of Lawrence Roedema Sr. and Carmella (Miliano) Roedema. Larry graduated from Union Grove High School, Class of 1965. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. After the war, he married Laurie Brothers, his wife of 55 years, and they settled in Union Grove, Wisconsin.
Larry worked as a car salesman or, as he always said, “a thief and a crook.” He also rode horses professionally, competing in horse shows in Chicago and Madison Square Garden. Larry enjoyed golfing with the Union Grove friends and vacationing in Hayward, Wisconsin with Union Grove neighbors. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren who he dearly loved.
Larry was known for his positive attitude towards life, his quick wit, and great sense Of humor.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Laurie (Brothers)
Roedema, his daughter Wendi Roedema, his daughter Jennifer (Roedema) Smith and her husband, Mike; two grandchildren, Jude Smith and Maisy Smith; nieces and nephews and cousins.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Foundation would be appreciated.
