Brent Alan Young, born December 13, 1967, in Kenosha, WI, to Elmer and Shelby (Himanka) Young, passed away unexpectedly with his wife at his side on March 5, 2021, at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa. He joined his beloved mother, father and older brother, Kevin, who also left this world too soon.
Brent attended Kenosha schools and UW-Parkside. Brent treasured the lifelong friendships he made and maintained with his classmates and co-workers because with Brent, once a friend, always a friend. His goal, that was always achieved, was to keep a smile on everyone’s face through the good and the bad with his dry humor and cleverness.
After 10 years of friendship, Brent finally made his move, and the love story of Shawn and Brent began. The connection was instant. They were truly soul mates. They started as friends and were always friends. It was a great love and they were a great couple.
The couple made a family, and what a family it is. Finn Wolf Young was born October 5, 2000. So strong, lover of stories, and sappy like his dad. Rowan Wolf Young was born November 23, 2004. Tender hearted, intelligent, and quick witted like his dad. Shelby Tallula Wolf Young was born May 11, 2006. Full of sarcasm, baker of cakes, and a ruthless competitor just like her dad.
Throughout his life, Brent spent many family vacations and guys’ fishing weekends at his family’s beloved camp in the U.P. (the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, for you non-yoopers). Countless hours were spent around the campfire telling stories and enjoying a beverage. At least as many hours were spent maintaining the camp–clearing trees, chopping wood, painting, and repairing. And he loved every single minute of it all.
Over the years Brent worked for Kohls Grocery, Pick and Save, Save-A-Lot and CVS. He had a long and storied career in retail that provided him with fuel for many of his greatest stories.
He is survived by his wife and children, his brother, Brian (Maureen Barry), sister-in-law, Elizabeth Young (Kevin), many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Brent was an organ and tissue donor, allowing other families to benefit from his giving spirit and make those who have had tough roads, smile once again. He is our hero.
Funeral services will be held privately. Friends and family are invited to join an online celebration of Brent’s life on Thursday, March 11 at 7pm. Please contact Brent’s family for more information.
