Alice Steagall, 88, of Union Grove passed away on January 18, 2024, at Parkside Manor surrounded by her loving family.
Alice was born February 23, 1935, in the outskirts of Crandon, WI, to the late Fearl and Hazel (Sherman) Whitt. At the age of 16, Alice met and married Charles Steagall, and they moved to Kenosha in 1951. By 1955, they had two children, and Alice had the opportunity to volunteer at the now Froedtert South Kenosha Center as a candy striper. She had such a gentle and compassionate rapport with the patients that the establishment invited Alice to train as an RN. That type of kind-heartedness was seen all throughout her 88 years of life and was poured into her family and friends in Kenosha and Crandon, WI, and Zolfo Springs, FL. Family was her pride and joy; whether she was playing cards and games with the kids, making cabbage patch dolls, moonlighting as the family hair stylist or entertaining out-of-town family for weeks during the annual family reunions, she was happy. Alice was a fan of toe-tapping County Music, and she loved to camp and travel. These adventures took her to all 50 States, including Hawaii, Alaska and Canada. She was also an excellent fly fisherwoman and a great shot with a pistol.
Alice is survived by her beloved husband of 73 years Charles Steagall of Union Grove, two children; Edward (Joanne) Steagall of Henderson, NV; and Sandy (Bruce) Hacker of Mt. Pleasant; also included are her eight grandchildren; Jaymie Laurent, Jason Steagall, Justin Steagall, Kim DeNicolas, Kenny Peltz, Joel Peltz, Robert Hacker Jr. and Lisa Goroski, 18 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Kenosha Funeral Services on Wednesday January 24, 2024, from 11:00AM-12:00PM with services to follow immediately at 12:00PM. Entombment will be held at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
