Peacefully and surrounded by her children, Barbara J. Weiher passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the age of 83 at St. Anthony OSW Hospital, Rockford, IL.
Born in Kenosha, WI on September 12, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Martha DeGroot.
She was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Barbara attended Westosha Central High School in Paddock Lake, WI and began her employment in 1973 with AMC/Chrysler. Throughout her working career, she was known for her hard work, dedication and passion for helping others. She earned the title of Union Stewart in the plant and was proudly committed in representing many of her fellow employees. She was always known at work among her friends for her infectious laugh and once she started laughing, she would have everybody joining in. She had a vivacious personality, a wonderful sense of humor and was always a joy to be around.
Barbara retired from AMC/Chrysler and settled in Belvidere, IL where she lived with her son, David Weiher.
Barbara was a devoted mother; she loved spending time with her children, sharing stories, watching movies, and cooking for them. She was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced. She was overjoyed to become a grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Her inspiration, wisdom, and laughter brought many wonderful memories that will be forever remembered, treasured and cherished.
In her free time, Barbara enjoyed traveling and was fortunate to have been able to visit some of the most exotic and beautiful places during her retirement years. She also had a love for music and was always eager to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with others. She was an active member of the Josh Groban fan club and traveled as far as Ireland to see him in concert. Another one of her favorite musicians was Neil Diamond; she attended many of his concerts with her daughter, Kelly. Barbara also had a passion for gardening and flowers. She looked forward to the spring season of planting, and her yard was always one of the nicest on the block.
Barbara is survived by her four children, Deborah Perez of Stockton, CA, Bruce Weiher of Kenosha, WI, Susan Clark of Mountain House, CA, and David Weiher of Belvidere, IL; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is joined in heaven with her daughters, Kelly Moeser and Kristine Leigh Taylor.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. A private service will be held at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park, Kenosha, WI.
