Bertha Kempin, 100 years… 1 month… and 1 week of age, passed away at Kenosha Senior Living on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
She was born on the Fourth of July 1924 in Paris Township, to Sylvester Schlitz and Rose Schlitz.
In 1943, she married Lloyd Segerstrom.
On July 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Otto Kempin at St. James Catholic Church.
Bertha began her working career as a department store elevator operator, and later employed with Badger Press, retiring after 21 years.
She was the Director for the Kenosha Senior Chorus and a member of the Senior Strings and RSVP Chorus. Bertha loved music and enjoyed traveling, inspiring many generations of musicians in her family.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Kathy Segerstrom, David (Annette) Segerstrom, Daniel Segerstrom, John Wilcox, Mark (Heather) Wilcox, and Heidi Kempin; her siblings, Gerald (Joan) Schlitz and Rita Mascolino; many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Her niece, Sandy, held a special place in Bertha’s heart as they shared many hours visiting together.
In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Otto Kempin and Lloyd Segerstrom and her children, Edwin Segerstrom, Donald Kempin and Rosanne Wilcox; brothers Charles, Harold, Wayne, and Dick Schlitz; sister, Gloria Lopez; and granddaughter, Andrea Wilcox.

Funeral services honoring Bertha’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at the Piasecki Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
A visitation for Bertha will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
