Blanche M. Sturman (Hanzalik), 94, of Waukesha passed away peacefully on December 14, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Blanche was born July 8, 1927, in Kenosha, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Marecek) Hanzalik. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha. Blanche married Victor Sturman on July 7, 1951, in Kenosha, WI. Blanche was a career woman and was employed by several corporations during her lifetime. Her first job was at Great Lakes Naval Base. While living briefly in California with her young family, she worked for PGE. Then in the years following, she was a keypunch/computer operator at Outboard Marine in Waukegan, American Motors in Kenosha, Manpower Services, and Baxter and Abbott Laboratories. She took pride in her profession and worked tirelessly until age 86. Her hobbies included gardening, golfing, crocheting, and traveling with her husband and family throughout the years. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Milwaukee Brewers, playing table games, and taking occasional trips to the casinos. Blanche loved spending time with her friends, neighbors, and family, especially her grandchildren. Her happiest memories were when she joined her husband while he was stationed in San Diego in 1952, living in San Francisco, and the births of her two children.
Survivors include her children, Bruce (Jill) Sturman of Waukesha, Bonny (David) Andersen of CO; 3 grandchildren, Erinn (Kris) Merritt, Jayson, Hayley (Braedan) Lanham; also included are 3 great-grandchildren, Cooper, Lucas and Noah Merritt. She is also survived by nephews, nieces, their spouses, and a very special “four-legged fur buddy”, Uecker. Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Sturman and 2 brothers, Edward and Otto Hanzalik.
A visitation will be held at Kenosha Funeral Services on Monday December 20, 2021, from 5:00-6:00PM with funeral services to follow immediately at 6:00PM. Burial will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday January 11, 2022, at 2:00PM.
Due to COVID, facemasks are required in the funeral home.
