It is with profound sadness, yet grateful hearts that we announce the passing of Brenda Blomquest, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, who left this world on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the age of 63, after a courageous 10-year battle with cancer.
Born on May 11, 1961, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Brenda dedicated her life to fostering a love for reading and learning within her community through her role at the Kenosha Public Library.
Brenda married her husband, Norman, on October 17, 1987, at St. Casimir’s Church in Kenosha. The couple had one daughter, Becca Ellis (Blomquest).
Brenda was loved by everyone who had the privilege of meeting her. Some of her favorite things were playing games, taking walks, riding bikes, cuddling with her cats, feeding and watching the wild birds in their yard, eating her husband’s home cooking, traveling to new places, and spending time and catching up with good friends. She spread joy, laughter and unconditional love everywhere she went.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Norman Blomquest; her beloved mother, Joyce Istvanek; her cherished daughter, Becca Ellis (Blomquest); and her son-in-law, Chris Ellis; her siblings, Beth (Bill) Beckstrom, Pat (Patty) Istvanek, Albert (Nancy) Istvanek and Peggy (Robbie) Beckstrom and many loving nieces and nephews. Each of them will carry forward her legacy of love, laughter, and compassion.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Albert Istvanek and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Max (Swede) Blomquest and Helen Blomquest.
In her decade-long fight with cancer, Brenda showed what it means to live with courage and hope. She faced every challenge with grace, finding moments of joy even in the hardest times.
In her honor, let us remember Brenda not with tears of sorrow, but with smiles of gratitude for the time we shared and the love she spread. She will forever remain in our hearts.
