Cheryl Ann Slater (Darrin), 65 years old, resident of Kenosha, WI, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 19, 1958, in Wausau, WI to the late DuWayne and Yvonne (Emon) Darrin. They soon relocated to Kenosha, WI. She attended Kenosha schools and graduated from Tremper High – Class of 1977.
On July 8, 1978, she married the love of her life, Kenneth W. Slater in Kenosha, WI. Together, they raised their 3 sons and opened their home to many foster children over the years.
Cheryl spent much of her career working Intake at the Kenosha County Jail and most recently as Deputy Register of Deeds for Kenosha County.
Cheryl will always be remembered for her bright smile, her ability to make others laugh, and her infectious zest for life and adventure. She loved spending time outdoors: camping, gardening, bird watching, fishing, kayaking, and hiking. Most importantly, she cherished every moment she was able to spend with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Kenneth; sons Micheal (Alyssa) Slater, Kenosha, Steven (Angela) Slater, Kenosha, Jeffery (Danielle) Slater, Cohutta, GA; grandchildren Aaron, Clayton, Lucy, Kenneth, Nathan, Sylvia, Evelyn, Lily, and Oaklyn; brothers Gary (Bonnie) Darrin, Sullivan, OH, Craig Darrin, Kenosha; sister Pam (Richard) Meyer, Rome, WI; and many adoring nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, DuWayne and Yvonne Darrin, and a son in infancy, Jason Slater.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Mass to follow at 12 pm. Interment will be private.
