Following a brief battle with lung cancer, Christine “Chris” Drewry, 68, passed away on Mar 15, 2024. Chris was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully.
Chris, born on November 5, 1955, to Raymond and Norma Markin in Richmond Center, WI, moved to Kenosha, WI when she was four years old. Chris graduated from Bradford High School in 1973 and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Concordia University in 1996. Most recently, she was a National Account Manager for International Bio Medical and was looking forward to full retirement. Chris was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Readers for Leaders program at Southport Elementary.
Chris became a mother in 1980, with the birth of her son, Jason (Stoner). In 1991, she married the love of her life, Tim, and the two went on to have a son, Samuel. Chris and Tim raised two amazing young men, who Chris adored more than anything. Chris was also blessed with a daughter-in-law, Sarah, when she married Jason on February 27, 2002, who in turn blessed her with three grandchildren, who she loved unconditionally. Chris was a wonderful and loving mother who gave her all to her family. We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her.
In her 20s and 30s, Chris loved playing softball and volleyball with her friends. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader and loved attending Badger football games with her friends and family. Much to her husband’s dismay, she was a Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed participating in Tim’s Football League, which she never did very well at, despite having much help from her grandson, Logan.
Above all, Chris loved her family the most and she was most content when we were all together. She had a great sense of humor with cutting wit and was known to be quite sassy at times. Being a mother and grandmother was one of the most important parts of Chris’ life, a role that gave her much pride and joy. She was an excellent mom and grandma and was supportive, kind, hilarious and witty. She was the best cheerleader and best listener and advice giver. There are not enough words to convey how wonderful she was and how deeply she will be missed.
Chris was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Norma Markin, and brother, John (Paula) Markin. Chris is survived by her loving husband, Tim Drewry, son Jason (Sarah) Stoner, son Samuel Drewry and his girlfriend Kari Schaefer, and three grandchildren: Audrey, Logan, and Bodhi Stoner, sisters Annette Markin, Ann (Eric) Webster, brothers Art (Chris) Markin, Donald Markin, mother-in-law, Margret Drewry, sister-in-law, Cary Yudes and brother-in-law, George (Karen) Drewry, as well as dearest family friend, Grace Erickson and many family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Chris’ name to an organization of your choice.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 22, 2024 from 4:00-8:30 PM in the Bristol Room at the Parkway Chateau.
