Clarence “Kelly” Johnson, 83 of Eagle River, WI, formerly of Kenosha WI, passed away peacefully at his home on January 14, 2024 surrounded by family. He was born May 25, 1940 in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of the late Clarence and Minnie (Davis) Johnson. After graduating from Salem Central High School, Kelly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant Master Tank Gunner from 1958-1961. He was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington and overseas in Germany.
After leaving the Army, Kelly worked at Outokumpu American Brass for 34 years. He was hired as a millworker and over the years worked his way up to machine shop maintenance superintendent. On June 27, 1964 he married the love of his life, Sharon “Terry” Cassity in Kenosha, WI. They had two children, Scott and Kellene. Kelly retired at the age of 55 then he and Terry moved to Eagle River WI where he enjoyed fishing, feeding his deer, crafting beautiful pieces of art in his woodworking shop, cutting his grass and helping his neighbors.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon “Terry” Johnson of Eagle River, WI, his son, Scott (Leslie) Johnson of Kenosha, WI, his daughter, Kellene (James) Strandberg of Silver Lake, WI, his grandchildren, Brenna Strandberg (Cameron Kroncke), Aubrey Strandberg, Brady Strandberg, Sam Johnson and Max Johnson. Also survived by his grand dogs, Reggie and Presley with whom he spent many hours rubbing bellies. Kelly is preceded in death by his father, mother, step-father, brother, sister, and step-sister.

Visitation for Kelly will take place at Proko Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12Noon. Committal services and full military honors will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park inside the chapel.
