Delfina A. Volpendesta, 73, of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove, WI, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 6, 1951, in in Marano Principato, Province of Cosenza, Italy the daughter of the late Domenico and Carmela (DeBartolo) Ruffolo.
On April 12, 1969, she married Michael Volpendesta at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1997.
She was employed as a parts prepper for Samina until her retirement. She later worked as a caretaker for Right at Home. She also worked as a lunch lady for many years for Kenosha Unified.
Delfina was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, taking care of her grandchildren, and spending time with her family. She was also an avid gardener; her green thumb could revive anything.
She is survived by her four children, Bennie (Maggie) Volpendesta, Antonette (Steve Brague) Volpendesta, Diane Nichols, and Glenn Nichols; seven grandchildren, Michael Nichols, Tyler (Jamie Kunath) Nichols, Jared Nichols, Domenico Volpendesta, Isabella Volpendesta, Francesca Brague, and Marcella Brague; two great-grandchildren, Allison and Liliana Nichols; two siblings, Angelina (Jim) Greco, and Patrizio (Patricia) Ruffolo. She is further survived by other loving family and friends.
Delfina was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Elena Ruffolo in infancy, and Mimma Ziccarelli.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Oak Ridge Care Center and Hospice Alliance, for their compassionate care over the last several months.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii at 10:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow in All Saints Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance, https://www.hospicealliance.org/ would be appreciated by the family.
