Delvin Ray Durbin, age 98, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at The Legacy at St. Joseph’s Assisted Living Facility in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin on Sunday, January 12th, 2025. A private funeral mass will be held at The Legacy at St. Joseph Chapel. Visitation 10:00 A.M. until mass at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025, Kenosha, Wisconsin. Following the funeral mass, the burial will take place at All Saints Cemetery in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
He was born on January 3rd, 1927, in Cadott, Wisconsin, the son of William and Ellen (Marek) Durbin. He attended Kenosha schools. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during WWII. On September 6th, 1947, he married Muriel T. Durbin at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He worked at Penneys, A & P, and Simmons before becoming a meat cutter at Conley’s Market. He retired from Piggly Wiggly after 37 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He had many interests, but especially enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his large family. He enjoyed biking, camping, and taking long walks.
He is survived by his loving wife, Muriel, of 77 years and 10 children. Pleasant, WI; Mary (Ray) Durbin of Oregon; Joseph (Esterlyn) Durbin of Bristol, WI; Margaret (Glenn) Severisen of Caledonia, WI; Jeanne (Jeff) Lauer of Spring Hill, TN. He is survived by 24 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willian and Ellen Durbin, his brothers Robert and John “Jack”, and his daughters Patricia and Theresa, grandson, Jeff Bloss and great grandson Caleb Islas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given directly to The Legacy at St. Joseph’s Assisted Living Facility or memorial masses said for him.
