Donald “Don” L. Shumate Jr., 49, of Green Bay, went to the Lord, with his loving family by his side, Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Froedtert Lutheran Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee.
He was born on April 28, 1972 to Donald L. Shumate Sr. and Peggy Washington in Chicago, IL. He was educated in the schools of Chicago and in West Virginia.
Don entered the US Air Force on February 17, 1999 and retired, after 21 years of service on September 30, 2019.
On July 1, 2016 he married the love of his life Anne Honor in San Antonio, Texas.
After retiring from the US Air Force, Don worked as a human resource director for Cash Depot.
Don was a Deacon of the church Taylor and Taylor for the love of Christ MBC.
Don enjoyed fishing and cooking. Don was a kind-hearted, loving and compassionate man who made friends with everyone he met and changed the lives of many. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife and his beautiful children.
Don is survived by his wife Anne, his father Donald (Lala) Shumate Sr., his mother Peggy (Pastor Bryant) Taylor, his children Tyler, Kylee, Zachary, Davin, Dillon and Katie, his mother- in-law Jone Wood, father-in-law David (Kaye) Wood, grandmother Mary “Peaches” Shelton, uncle Roy (Sherona) Washington Jr., uncle Ronnie Washington and uncle Robert (Laura) Taylor. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by a brother Kenneth, an aunt Alice Baxter, an uncle Harold Shumate an uncle Edward Wilson, an uncle James Washington, and uncle Red Walker, an uncle Theodus and grandparents Inez Washington, Roy Washington Sr., Milton Shumate, great grandparents Mama and Papa Jennings and Goodie and Earnest Washington.
Funeral Services for Don will be held on Friday, August 20th at 1:00 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home. Full Military Honors will follow. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses on the 9th floor CFAC at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee for their loving and compassionate care given to Don.
