Donald Vernon Jensen of Kenosha passed away peacefully in his home on April 14, 2024. He was born on January 4, 1927, to the late Chester E. Jensen and Hazel (St. Louis) Jensen. He was second of five children born to the couple, and grew up to love hunting, fishing and family fun with his wife and children, and his brothers, sister, nieces and nephews.
Donald married Joyce Dolan in 1951 while he served in the Army during the Korean War. Together they had three children, Gary (deceased in infancy), Gayle and Greg, and enjoyed 73 years of marriage. Don spent countless hours go-karting with Greg, serving as Greg’s pit crew. Uncle Donnie instigated weekend adventures for the Jensen and Becker cousins which built a strong bond between them as lasting and treasured family. When they became empty nesters, Don and Joyce had their own fun as a couple, including riding in their yellow Corvette and tooling around on their mopeds.
Donald and Joyce were members of Kenosha Bible Church for more than 70 years. Donald taught Sunday School, helped with Awana and assisted in maintenance projects for the church building. He read his well-thumbed Bible every morning.
Donald remembered every person he had ever met. He passed away with a full heart and a life well-lived, surrounded by his loved ones.
He is survived by his wife Joyce, daughter Gayle (Les) of San Diego, CA, son Greg (Carol) of Owasso, OK, granddaughter Amanda of Kenduskeag, ME and grandson Cody of Owasso.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Michelle Gauthier and Staff, Hospice Alliance, Kenosha Bible Church, and neighbors and friends Luis and Victoria Rodriguez and Reggie and Tammy Clyne. Donations may be made to Kenosha Bible Church or the charity of your choice.
