Doris Ann Christ, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, mother and friend, left us peacefully on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on June 4, 1945, to Otto and Margaret (Zlabek) Christ. She was a graduate of Salem Central High School.
She was part owner at Christ Iron Works and Mid-States Tube Corporation, family-owned businesses that embodied her strong work ethic and passion for craftsmanship. Many knew her as a steadfast leader, but her true legacy extends far beyond her career.
Doris found joy in the simple pleasures of life-whether it was walking through her neighborhood, getting lost in a good book, or sharing laughter with friends in the Red Hat Society. Her involvement with community events, such as the the Crop Walk, spoke volumes about her compassion and desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
Together with her soul sister of 72 years, Kay Manke, their lives slowly matured from once tearing up the town and scoopin’ the loop, to recently sharing an iced mocha together in the morning.
Doris will be deeply missed by her brother, Allen (Linda) Christ; nephews, Brian (Tina) Kramer, Kurt (Dena) Kramer and Dan (Tammy) Kramer; and loving nieces and nephews. To all who knew her, she was a loving, kind, unfiltered spitfire, always ready with a smile or a helpful hand.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her son, Thomas C. Christenson; sister, Carol Kramer; and brother-in-law, Donald Kramer.
