Edmund A. Gierut, age 79, of Silver Lake, WI, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday morning, February 12, 2022, with his loving daughter by his side. Son of the late Andrew and Stella Gierut, Edmund was born on November 14, 1942 in Chicago, IL, one of ten children. On February 28, 1964, he was united in marriage to the love of his life and best friend, Mary Ann Danny. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Sheila. The family moved from Chicago to Silver Lake in 1979, when Edmund purchased an auto body shop in Paddock Lake, where he worked as an auto body repair technician for many years. Later, he worked for Classic Chevrolet in Gurnee, IL, before retiring.
Edmund was a very kind, loyal, and reliable man who worked hard to provide the best possible life for his wife and daughter. He always made their needs his top priority and was an excellent provider. Edmund was exceptionally gentle and compassionate and devoted his life to his family and his home. He was extremely intelligent and there wasn’t anything that he couldn’t fix. He taught his daughter how to work on cars, and how to fish. In his free time, Edmund enjoyed fishing, woodworking, metal crafting, and meticulously caring for his home. The beautiful wood furniture he built can be found all over his home.
Sheila will always remember that her father taught her to “run between the raindrops,” which was his way of showing her how to move through a difficult moment.
Edmund is survived by his daughter, Sheila Gierut (Shawn Nicewarner); granddaughter, Amanda Bates (George Antzoulatos); great-granddaughter, Halena Antzoulatos; sister, Marcia Scherr; and brothers, Danny (Sharon) Gierut, Freddy Gierut, and Ralphy Gierut. In death, he is reunited with his beloved wife, Mary Ann; sisters, Evelyn (Roy) Slowinski and Doris (Don) Kaleta; brothers, Joey Gierut, Johnny (Rose) Gierut, and Stanley (Jeanine) Gierut; brother-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Scherr; and sister-in-law, Joane Gierut.
A private funeral service will be held.
