Edward S. Holmstrom Jr., 80, of Twin Lakes, WI passed away peacefully at Delavan Healthcare Services on May 4, 2024. He was the much-loved husband of Donna (Ehlert) for 61 years. Ed was born September 23, 1943, and as a young boy moved from Chicago, IL to Twin Lakes with his late parents Edward S. and Agnes (Murphy) Holmstrom Sr.
Ed first met Donna in 7th grade and later became high school sweethearts at Wilmot High School, marrying in 1962. He was employed for a short time at American Motors in Kenosha, and later as a manufacturing plant manager at Vaughan & Bushnell in Hebron Illinois. Ed took great pride in this position, retiring after 41 years of dedication.
Ed was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Twin Lakes. He served as an elder, organized the brat fry fundraiser and assisted with the annual car shows.
He made new friends everywhere he went, and the family often heard, “he is so sweet” or “such a nice guy”. As an avid sports fan, Ed’s favorite teams were the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks Some of his favorite times were watching his grandkids in sports, especially travel softball. When his children were in school, he started and never stopped following Wilmot High School Sports. Forever a Panther fan, he proudly sang the school song, followed girls and boys basketball, baseball, softball and football. He was lovingly known as Wilmot’s #1 fan. The athletes recognized him with cards, certificates and even a couple signed basketballs.
He is survived by wife, Donna, brother Robert Holmstrom, son Tim (Laura) Holmstrom, daughter Renette (Dale) Cates, grandchildren, Rachel (Anthony) Bloxton, Heidi (Kevin) Shane, Courtney (Joshua) Maas, Katie Holmstrom and two new great grandchildren.
Proceeded in death by parents Edward and Agnes, birth mother Ethel (Heideman) Holmstrom and infant daughter Cindy Sue.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the compassionate staff at Delavan Health Services who cared for and loved Ed like family.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 10, 2024, at 1:00PM at the Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 620 Legion Dr. Twin Lakes, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Inurnment to follow at Wilmot Cemetery.
