Elva J. Kurtz, 93, of Kenosha, WI passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Grand Prairie Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on August 4, 1930, in Pottstown, PA to the late Anthony and Hilda Mae (Antrim) Wilhelm. She met her beloved husband, Gerald Kurtz, and married on November 15, 1952. He later preceded her in death on March 17, 1972. The Kurtz family relocated to Bristol, WI in 1967 where Elva remained until her death.
After moving to WI, Elva went to work as a nurse’s aide at Washington Manor. She also worked for the visiting nurses in Kenosha, and then later in life she worked in private home health care, as well as a driver for the Department of Aging. Elva has been recognized for her outstanding volunteer work at the Westosha Community Center for her contribution to the success of the Adult Nutrition Program.
Elva was honored to be the Outstanding Citizen of Bristol in 2008, and she was also a member of The Bristol Historical Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling with her children, doing work search puzzles, and most of all playing Scrabble. Elva enjoyed her outings with the Twin Lakes Seniors, where she was affectionally known as “Lamb Chop”.
Surviving are her four children, Jane Kurtz Powers of Kenosha, WI, Faye (Rich) Piette of Beaver Dam, WI, Albert (Linda) Kurtz Lexington, KY, and Donald (Nancy) Kurtz of Bristol, WI; “GiGi” to 10 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Ann (Paul) Gofus, Gertrude (Joe) Klaptosky, George (Helen) Wilhelm, Robert (Evelyn) Wilhelm, and Kenneth (Shirley) Wilhem; and grandson, Lucas Kurtz
The family would like to thank Sherri for her unwavering devotion and friendship, and Charlene for being a great source of strength at this time.
A memorial visitation will be held at Proko Funeral Home on July 11, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm. Elva will be laid to rest in Pottstown, PA at a later date. Memorials would be greatly appreciated to The Bristol Historical Society at 9115 160th Avenue, Bristol WI 53104.
