George Carey,94, of Sparta formerly of Kenosha passed away on Saturday September 16, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
In loving memory of George E Carey. Born in Exeter, PA to William E and Alvenna (Morgan) on January 26, 1929. He was one of 16 children. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elisabeth M (Erhardt). He is survived by his blended family of Elisabeth (James) -Carey Plimpton, Brenda (Skip) Carey-Mielke, David (Jenny) Carey, Mary (Charles) Hofflander, Kathleen and sons Rocky, Will and Nicole Mitchell, Carol ( Tom) Bosman, John (Roxine) Carey, Sue-An Carey, James Carey. He is further survived by 17 grandchildren, 60 great, and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Dorothy Jean Benson, brothers and sisters; William, Tommy, Daniel, Cora ,Ida, Jeanette, Judy, Beatrice, David, Brenda, and Florence.
He is survived by brothers Bobby (Harriet) Frank and his sister Mary (Ron) Fox.
He served during the Korean war as a communications Sargent. He often reflected fondly of his time in the Army and had many stories of his antics while in service and growing up in the mountains of Pennsylvania. He finally settled down in Kenosha, WI. He worked for 30 years for Koos, Inc,
retiring in 1994. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. He was very artistic, enjoyed creating things with his hands. He loved to tell stories about his experiences. His love of family , community and country will be greatly missed.
A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday September 23, 2023 at Green Ridge Cemetery, 6604 7th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53143, at 11:00AM.
Flowers may be delivered to Kenosha Funeral Services on Friday from 8:30AM-3:00PM, or Saturday from 8:30AM-9:30AM.
