H. Norman Petersen passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the age of 79 in Marshfield, WI. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile and his “Norm jokes” despite the pain.
Born in Kenosha, WI on December 30, 1941 to Harold Herbert and Virginia Barbara (Houtsinger) Petersen.
After graduating from Bradford High School, he served in the Navy stationed in Port Smith, New Hampshire.
Norm had a talent for drawing and was encouraged to enroll in drafting classes at Kenosha Technical Institute in Kenosha, WI. After two classes his instructor recommended Norm to his employer. He was hired immediately at OMC (Outboard Marine Corporation) in Waukegan, IL. Norm a C.A.E. Production Designer retired after 33 years of service with OMC. OMC became Bombardier Motor Corporation and Norm came out of retirement and worked a few years for them. He was recognized as the inventor on several patents throughout the years.
He retired in Boulder Junction, WI where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, playing billiards and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of Duck’s Unlimited.
Norm is survived by his daughter, Kim (Steven) Palmer of IL, his sons, Daniel (Sharon) Petersen of NV and Jon (Chris) Petersen of FL; his granddaughter, Ashley of AZ; his grandson Zachary of FL and his great grandsons, Dominic and Greyson, AZ.
In addition to his parents, Norm was preceded in death by his brother, Vernon Gilbert Petersen.
A memorial service honoring Norm’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 7400 39th Avenue.
Inurnment with full military honors will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
