Jerry Watkins, 76, of Zion, passed away on December 21, 2024, at Froedtert South Pleasant Prairie Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born on April 1, 1948, in Fulton, MS, the son of the late Paul and Claudeen (Warren) Watkins. He was educated in the schools of Zion, IL. Jerry married Paula Moon on March 22, 1975, in Wadsworth, IL. He was employed by the state of Illinois EPA for many years.
Jerry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Gurnee, IL. His hobbies included playing guitar, watching the history channel and old movies. He was an avid history buff and studied the life of Abraham Lincoln. He had a love for music, in particular The Beatles and Bob Dylan, and instilled this into his children. He was a gardener and his favorite plant to grow were his tomatoes. What he loved most of all was spending time with his friends, his family and all of his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Watkins of Zion, IL; his daughters, Rebecca (Herb Eimerman) Domerchie of Lindenhurst, IL, Sarah Watkins of Kenosha, WI and Jessica (Ethan Lowry) Watkins of Pageland, SC; his sister, Jackie (Mike) Henderson of AL; and his grandchildren, Kennedy, Gavin, Amaiya and Daisy. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Jimmy; his sister Bobby Ann and his nephew, Johnny Kromke.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
