Joseph A. Schmitt, age 76, of Kenosha, WI died October 2, 2024, after a long illness, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 17, 1948, the son of the late John and Margaret (Dorau) Schmitt. On October 28, 1972, he was united in marriage to Nanette Bodven and spent over 51 years together. The couple went on to have three children.
He graduated from St. Joseph High School and went on to start a journeyman mason apprenticeship at Riley Construction. He worked for many local companies for the next 44 years and was a lifetime member of Local 4 and International Union of Bricklayers.
After retiring, Joseph pursued more time with his grandkids.
Survived by his wife, Nanette; his children Renee (Steve) Milne, Mt. Pleasant, Austin Schmitt, Belvidere, IL, Denise (Emil) Daniels, Paddock Lake; his grandchildren Hannah, Ellie, Ean and Margaret “Maggie.”
In addition to his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his brother Thomas, and twin sisters Margaret and Mary.

Funeral services honoring Joseph’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 2020 91st Street, Kenosha, WI.
Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
A visitation for Joseph will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Piasecki Funeral Home, 3720 39th Ave, Kenosha, WI.
