Joseph Sexton passed away peacefully at the age of 82. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Throughout his life he had a passion for building things. From rehabbing houses, to model building, to engines, to dollhouses and Pinewood Derby cars, Joe loved creating with his hands or repairing things. He worked with a wide variety of tools and materials and had an amazing mechanical aptitude, designing or fixing just about anything.
More than building, Joe loved flying, earning his pilot’s license and instrument rating. His adventurous spirit and love for aviation brought him great joy. This love of flying even extended to skydiving, which began in the service as a Green Beret, and most recently at the age of 81. He often joked that he jumped out of more planes than landed.
Flying wasn’t Joe’s only way to indulge his adventurous side. He could often be found in a car, preferably a Mustang, heading out in new directions, whether to see family, an away baseball game, a National Park or just for the love of being out on the road with a good friend.
Joe was a devout Catholic and strengthened his faith in quiet reflection and prayer during retreats as well as through the fellowship of a prayer group. His faith played a significant role in his life and guided him in his interactions and charity work.
Joe loved his friends and family. He enjoyed spending time with them. He is survived by a daughter, a son, 3 grandchildren, a brother, 2 sisters and many nieces and nephews.
