Lois M. Ford, 72, of Chicago, IL, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Aurora Medical Center – Kenosha.
Born on May 17, 1949, in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Lois (Springhorn) Fegan.
She and her husband, Edward Ford, moved in New York. After 49 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on November 29, 2019. She relocated to Kenosha.
Lois was a nurse who began her career at Madden Mental Health Hospital in Chicago and retired in 2019 from Albany Medical Center in New York. Mental health awareness was important to her.
Being Catholic, faith was very important to Lois. She was the leader of Girl Scout troop #1434 for many years, enjoyed reading, writing parody songs, crafting, playing word games, and correcting everyone’s grammar. Most of all, Lois will be remembered for being generous to a fault, and being the best damn grandma in the world.
Surviving Lois are her four children, Jennifer (Eddie) Murtaugh, Michael (Nikki) Ford, Matthew (Kristie) Ford, and Megan (Bill) Friedl; her beloved dog, Miss Layla; her grandchildren, Luke, Paige, Kyla, Ronan, Cooper, Marley, Ella, Aibhlinn, and Nieve; her siblings, Mary (Joe) Leonaitis, Joan Dissette, Thomas (Jackie) Fegan, and Maureen (Dan) Sheedy; a sister-in-law, Therese Fegan; and her loving nieces and nephews, Dan, John, Jake, Tim, Michael Colin, Ryan, Patrice, Caitlin, Charlie, Tom, Siobhan, Nick, John, Tom, Mary, Danny, and Andi. She is further survived by her besties, Mary Lou Manchen and Carol Casteel; other relatives, and friends.
Aside from her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Patrick, Michael, Timothy, and Dan Fegan.
Services for Lois were held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the ASPCA, https://www.aspca.org/ways-to-give, would be appreciated by the family.
