Luigina “Gina” Bruno, 87 years old, formerly of Kenosha, WI and most recently of Naples, FL passed away suddenly in her home on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
She was born September 9, 1937, in Cerisano, Cosenza, Italy, the daughter of the late Antonio and Vincenza (La Nocaro) Guido. On July 30, 1972, she married Mariano Bruno in Cerisano, Italy and they settled in Kenosha, WI, where they spent their lives together until Mariano’s passing in 2021.
Gina was employed by Manutronics for 23 years, until her retirement in 2002 where she was known for her dedication, strong work ethic, and built many lifelong friendships.
Gina found joy in tending to her large garden and her beautiful red roses that lined the front of her home, knitting and crocheting, and preparing delicious meals for her family. Gina also cherished spending time with her friends in Kenosha and made it a point to stay connected to them daily after moving to Florida. More than anything, she loved being with her family and took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. She always looked forward to helping at the Holy Rosary Festival each summer, where she would gather with her friends to make fried dough, a tradition that brought her joy and allowed her to share her love of cooking and tradition with her community.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary (Richard) Yuenkel and Cathy (Greg) Gunhus; four grandchildren, Ashley (Jordan) Detjens, Benjamin Gunhus, Megan (Carter) Chabot, and Jacob Gunhus; one great- grandchild, Oliver Detjens; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to her parents and husband, Gina was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucia Guido and Ida Caputo, and her brothers, Eugene Guido, Mario Guido, Guiseppe Guido, and Giovanni Guido.
