Quiet, humble, considerate, brilliant, brave and stubborn. Simply put, life was never about him, it was always about everyone else. These words best describe my lifelong friend and “brother” Lyle Walter, who passed away at the age of 66 on January 10th, 2025.
Lyle was the son of the late George and Clara Walter and a lifelong resident of Kenosha. He was educated in Kenosha schools, graduating from the University of Wisconsin Parkside with a Bachelor of Science Degree, cum laude. He was employed by the Federal Government for over 35 years. During that time Lyle worked at the Veterans Administration in Milwaukee, as well as the James A. Lovell Health Care Center in North Chicago IL., where he retired due to illness in 2022.
Lyle had a myriad of diverse interests. He enjoyed non-fictional readings, watching his vast collection (1,000’s) of DVD’s to watching TV sitcoms. The genre’s covered old horror films, mythology to Shakespeare. His greatest love however was Ancient Roman History. He was definitely well read. Well, anything but politics!
Lyle is survived by his lifelong friend and “sister”, confidant and as he always said “my forever person”; Kathy Tenuta, (his parents helped raise her), her daughter Allison, his favorite caregiver and friend Yvonne, aka Cartman, his favorite fix-it-guy Chris, dear friend Jean, and his 4-legged buddies, Ted, Tia, and Sandy.
Many, many thanks to the staff at Library Terrace Suites. You were all there for us on this journey and saying thank you doesn’t seem enough. Your incredible dedication and compassionate care will never be forgotten. Each of you became not only friends, you became family.
Much appreciation and thanks also goes out to Hospice Alliance, our CNA Aleasha and his nurse Tiffany who provided excellent care for Lyle. What an honor to have you on our team
Our expression of love, thanks and gratitude will be shared in a private Celebration of Life with Lyle’s fellow residents, staff and friends at Library Terrace Suites. They were all instrumental in adding life to Lyle’s days.
Lyle leaves behind a legacy of kindness. I will forever miss him.
