Mary Castelli-Barnes, 67, of Kenosha passed away after a short illness on April 14, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center Kenosha.
Mary was born on August 15, 1957, in Kenosha, the daughter of the late Dante and Joanne (Petit) Castelli.
She married Roger Barnes, and together they owned and operated Kenosha Starter and Alternator. She also worked for many years at Don’s Auto Parts; and most recently she worked at Racine/Kenosha Community Action Agency, and the Kenosha WIC office. She really enjoyed serving the community, and her co-workers.
She was educated in the schools of Kenosha, graduating from St. Joseph Catholic Academy. Her hobbies included cooking, cheering for the Chicago Cubs, traveling to New York and Arizona, politics and spending time in her yard. Time spent with her family and friends provided her the most happiness including Tuesday night dinners, sharing many laughs with “The Pack” whenever they were together and time with Owen and Freddie.
Survivors include her daughter, Janet (Josh) Knutson of Racine; brothers, Mark Castelli of FL, Allan (Lisa) Castelli of Pleasant Prairie; sister, Carol Ratliff of Kenosha, her grandchildren, Owen and Freddie Knutson; as well as numerous other beloved family members.
Mary was preceded in death by Roger Barnes, her parents; sister, Andrea Castelli Reeves and her brother-in-law, Tim Ratliff.
Mary’s family would like to thank the teams that provided exemplary care at Aurora Medical Center- Kenosha, notably the Emergency Department, MS5 and ICU. We are eternally grateful for not only the care and compassion provided to Mary, but also her family as we navigated this difficult experience, we can’t thank you enough.
A memorial gathering will be held at Kenosha Funeral Services on Tuesday April 22, 2025, from 2:00PM-4:00PM.
