Mazzie L. Williams was born to John Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Calbert in Sunflower, Mississippi on September 20th 1954. She was a member of New Way Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ. Mazzie was a giving, caring and educated woman. She helped many, not just those she loved. Her caring heart lead her to Gateway Technical College where she earned her degree in nursing. As a nurse, she provided unconditional love and care to others for many years. Her knowledge along with her passion for what she loved to do quickly earned her the title “The Family Doctor”. She loved to dance, listen to blues and watch her westerns. Mazzie leaves to cherish her memories her children Mary (Greg)Finley, Billie Williams Jr., James (Tiffany) Williams, David (Daphne)Williams Sr. A brother Frankie lee (Lee ann) Calbert of Savanah TN, four sisters Verlean Fairly of Selmer TN, Lillie Calbert of Moorhead MS, Rosie lee Miller of Saginaw, MI and Martha (Charles) Robinson of Killeen, TX. Thirteen grandchildren Kendra, Shenè, Lamont, Alexus, David Jr., Isaiah, Dominik, Ametria, Kayanna, Demetrius, DaQuan, Da’Terria, Da’Vionce, Jada, Jamiah, Javion, Ezra, Jermiah and James Jr. Fourteen great grandchildren Jayla, A’nya, Lamar Jr., Samiya, Kingston, Karina, Demitrius Jr., Za’Kylah, David III, Da’Vaeh, Hazel, Davion, Da’Varion and Miracle. Along with a host of family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billie Williams Sr, her parents John H. Calbert Sr. and Mary (Smith)Calbert, a grandson Ramon Williams, sisters and brothers Mary, Ren ella, Rhoda, Zerlean, Earcean, Henry Isaac, Fenlia, Chorcey, John Jr. and Robert Sr.
Services for Mazzie will be held at Kemper Center Founder’s Hall (6501 3rd Ave) on Saturday, December 30th, at 6 P.M. A visitation with the family will take place at Kemper Center at 4 P.M. until the time of the service.
