Michael J. Wood, 83, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Hospice Alliance Hospice House. He spent his final days surrounded by his daughters and grandchildren.
He was born on January 2, 1941 to the late Louis and Myrtle (Montgomery) Wood in Prairie du Chien, WI. He grew up in Whitehall and graduated from Whitehall Memorial High School.
Michael married Susan Holmgren in 1967, and they had three daughters. They later divorced.
After high school, Michael moved to Kenosha and worked on the assembly line at AMC/Chrysler for 44 years. He was a proud member of UAW Local 72.
Michael found comfort in God and dedicated his life to serving Him. He rarely missed a Sabbath day. Family meant everything to him. He was the best loving father to his three girls and just as great of a grandpa to his two grandchildren. Michael had the biggest heart, always helping others without a second thought. Aside from his love of the Church and family, Michael loved running and fitness and would often be found working out at the local KYF. He was a talented dancer. He loved a good Polka, spending many summers at the local church festivals dancing the night away. When relaxing, you found him writing sermons, doodling or watching a classic western or comedy sitcom. He enjoyed classic old country music, especially the Statler Brothers.
The world is a better place because of him. We love you forever. May you rest in peace.
Michael is survived by his daughters Tamela (Joe) Broesch, Diane Wood and Lori (Audrius) Boreika, his grandchildren Caden (Ash) and Kylar Broesch and his sister Sharon Helstad.
He is preceded in death by two sisters Mary Pientok and Judy Strand.
A Memorial Service for Michael will be held on Monday, November 4th at 6:00 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials would be appreciated to Hospice Alliance.
