It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our beloved son, Michael Thomas Taylor Kapp, or “Mikey” as he was known to his friends and family. Mikey was born on March 26, 1996, in New Haven, Connecticut. At the age of two, he moved with his family to Trevor, Wisconsin where he spent the majority of his childhood. While attending Trevor Elementary, he made lifelong friends who he loved like family. He even helped perform his friend’s marriage ceremony.
At a young age, it was clear to everyone that Mikey had a gifted mind, so it was no surprise to anyone that he decided to study mathematics after high school. He earned an associate’s degree at Madison College and a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin – Parkside. He continued his studies at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee where he was in the second year of graduate school in mathematics. While at UW – Milwaukee, he worked as a teaching assistant and discovered that he was also a gifted teacher. He cared deeply about his students and worked hard to help them achieve all they could while they were in his class.
He was intelligent, kind, empathetic, and observant with a pure and genuine heart. His discipline when he put his mind to something he wanted was admirable. He was thoughtful and purposeful with his words, listened intently, and kept you on the edge of your seat when you were lucky enough to hear one of his stories. His stoic expression was intercepted often with an uncontrollable big smile that escaped easily paired with a laugh to match. His unhesitating act of saving a man from drowning years ago was a manifestation of his caring heart that was always available to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather Thomas Frizzell, his grandmother, Monica Frizzell, and his grandfather and namesake Michael Kapp. Michael is survived by his father Todd Kapp, his mother Monica (Frizzell) Kapp, his brother Ryan Kapp, his sister Julie Blakeslee and brother-in-law Jordan Blakeslee, his grandmother Joannie Kapp and many other friends and family.
