Nancy L. Luther, 72, of Salem, WI., passed away at home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous 11 year battle against cancer on Friday, October 25, 2024.
Nancy was born to Wesley and Dorathea (Sites) Mugford, in Highland Park, MI., on July 10, 1952.
Nancy loved her family fiercely. She enjoyed taking her children to museums, baseball games, the library, and the YMCA when they were young, swimming with her grandchildren, and spending time with her siblings.
She was an avid gardener, loved summer time, exploring the night sky, listening to music, playing pinochle and other games, doing crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. When Nancy wasn’t in her garden, you could find her cheering on the Chicago Bears and Cubs.
Nancy spent some of her happiest times with family and friends in Florida and Wausau, WI. Some of her favorite trips (often with her siblings) were going to Glacier and Yellowstone, Rockfest and Bluesfest, camping, and seeing the total eclipse.
Nancy is survived by her three daughters; Sara (Justin) Sampsel, Pam (Brian) Reed, and Katie (Cheyne) Count. She is further survived by her grandchildren; Emily, Chelsea, and Tyler. Additionally, Nancy is survived by her siblings; Chris (Rod) Brown, Terri (Howie) Fisher, Dave (Robyn) Mugford, and Becky (Jack) Battersby. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Lastly, Nancy is also survived by many friends, some of whom have been in her life for more than 50 years.
She was the epitome of a dedicated employee, working as a cashier for Dominick’s grocery chain for over thirty years.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; Wesley (Fannabel) Mugford and Dorothea (Carl) Harris, her son Charlie, her nephews Jeremy and Robert, and her brother Chuck.
A celebration of life for Nancy will be taking place next summer. As the Beatles said, “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.” That statement sums up Nancy’s entire life.
Her family wishes to thank her Aurora Health at Home Hospice team for the amazing support that they provided to Nancy and her family.
Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory are proud to have served the Luther family.
