Nicholas J. Balk 83, of Kenosha passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024, surrounded by his family. Nicholas was born on December 22nd, 1940, in Kenosha, the son of Peter and Frances Balk (Johnson). He married Patricia Stevens on December 22nd, 1958, and they shared many wonderful years together before her death in 2023.
Nicholas was educated in Kenosha schools and graduated from Kenosha High School in 1958. He served as a Pastor for over 40 years in Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and Brooklyn, NY. He was a lifelong member of Kenosha Bible Church. He loved to serve God by teaching and preaching. He enjoyed participating in softball and volleyball church leagues. Nick had a keen interest in antique and classic cars. He adored his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and prayed for them daily.
Nicholas is survived by one son Nicholas P. Balk, two daughters, Melissa (Robert) Jeranek, and Allison Bonner (Kevin DeBruin), grandchildren, Jennifer Czekalski, Patrick (Ashley) Balk, Debra (Chris) Pratola, Emily (Dean) Garrison, Daniel Misciagno, Megan Bonner, Katherine (Kenny) Hackbarth, James (Audrey) Bonner, Stephen Misciagno, Jessica Bonner, Abigail (Michael) Gennaccaro, Sarah Bonner, Nicholas Misciagno, Dennis Berg and Jesse Christian, and 22 great grandchildren. He is further survived by one sister, Janice Kruger.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia, and two brothers, James and Ronald Balk.
Funeral services for Nicholas will be held on Monday, August 19th, 2024, at Kenosha Bible Church (5405 67th Street Kenosha 53142). Visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am with services beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow services at Green Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials to either Gideans International or Wycliffe Bible Translators would be appreciated.
