Paul Scott Christenson, age 77, of Salem, WI, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Son of the late Paul C. and Vivian M. (née Scott) Christenson, Paul was born on September 2, 1946, in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Prairie State College, and was later drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served his country from 1966 until 1968. Paul was united in marriage with Kathryn Quinn, who preceded him in death in 2009. Paul worked as a supervisor for the village of Wilmette’s water treatment plant for over 30 years.
Paul was a man of many interests. An avid reader and history buff, Paul possessed a keen intellect and curiosity for learning. His passion for history, particularly wartime, fueled countless discussions and debates. In addition to his intellectual pursuits, Paul was a creative soul. From woodworking to stained glass, resin art to jewelry making, he expressed his artistic side with skill and imagination. He was known for sharing his work with family and friends, always sending them home with a new piece. Paul also enjoyed watching sports—his beloved Chicago Bears, NASCAR (before Dale Earnhart Sr. died), and March Madness.
Known for his warm and outgoing nature, Paul had a gift for making friends wherever he went. His friendly demeanor and playful flirtations endeared him to all who crossed his path, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Paul was also a devoted family man who relished every opportunity to travel and explore new destinations with his children during family vacations. Later in life, he continued to embark on adventures with his beloved wife Kathy, creating lasting memories and deepening their bond. Paul’s love and devotion shone brightest in his role as a caregiver. When Kathy battled cancer, he stood by her side with strength and tenderness, providing care and support through the most challenging times.
Paul’s legacy of service, intellect, creativity, and love will continue to touch those who knew and loved him.
Paul is survived by his children, Tracey (Jerritt) McMillon, Jason Christenson, Annie (Jeff) Colón, and Scott (Stefanie) Christenson; grandchildren, Emma and Shane McMillon and Greyson Colón; siblings, Kim Miggenburg, Bonnie Christenson (Mark Smikler), and Brad Christenson (Debi Schleder); and his cherished feline companions, Penny and Crystal. In death, he is reunited with his parents, Paul C. and Vivian; wife, Kathy; and brother-in-law, Ken Miggenburg.
A family-run graveside service with military honors will be held in the near future. Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Twin Lakes is honored to serve the Christenson family.
