Richard Louis Bartel, 81, of Kenosha died Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie.
Born in Kenosha, WI on May 25, 1942, he was the son of the late Louis and Meta (Villnow) Bartel. He married the love of his life Linda Leonard on June 22, 1963, at Friedens Lutheran Church in Kenosha, WI.
Richard graduated from Racine Lutheran High School before working as a Hot Roller at American Brass, Kenosha, WI, until his retirement in 1999. He was a proud member of New Life East Lutheran Church, formerly Friedens Lutheran Church, having served as a council member on the church board and a proud leader of the Boy Pioneers. In his free time Richard enjoyed building model railroads and being around trains. He also had a passion for cycling and enjoyed the time it gave him with his unofficial group, the steeple chasers. On Sunday nights you could count on finding Richard eating dinner with his loving family and their weekly Sunday dinner.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; two daughters Debra (Tracy) Bartel-Schweitzer and Barbara Bartel; and many other family and friends.
Visitation for Richard will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, from 10:00 am-11:00 am at New Life East Lutheran Church, 5038 19th Avenue, Kenosha, WI, until time of service at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at 9:00 am, on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park, 4300 Green Bay Rd, Kenosha, WI.
