On April 8, 2021, at the age of 88, Richard M. Skogstad of Kenosha passed away peacefully in his sleep at Hospice Alliance-Hospice House.
Richard was born on February 14, 1933 in Whitehall, WI to Maurice and Alma (Melby) Skogstad. His early life was spent in Blair, WI where he graduated from Blair High School in 1951. Richard was drafted and served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. On November 21, 1964 he was united in marriage to Ruth Thorson in Whitehall, WI. Richard worked for over 30 years at AMC/Chrysler. He was a member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, the Sons of Norway, the Kenosha Moose Lodge #286, and the UAW Local 72. Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was devoted to his family. He was an avid reader, a history enthusiast and a huge WI sports fan.
Richard is survived by his son, Scott (Sonja) Skogstad; his daughter, Karen Kersting and his cherished granddaughter, Cassandra Kersting. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; brother, Roger Skogstad and sister, Beatrice Larson.
A private burial for Richard will be held at Oakwood Cemetery on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
