Robert R. Bassinger (“Bob”) passed away peacefully at Hospice House on January 15, 2025, leaving behind his wife of 40 years, Kathy.
His final days were peaceful, and he was surrounded by his loving blended family: sister Lynne Spranger; stepson Jason Hedman; daughter and son-in-law Jenny and Rick Winters; granddaughter Krista Hedman; niece Jodi Spranger with her children Hailey and Junior and niece Tracey Mayer with her sons Jordan and Christopher.
Born and raised in Racine, Bob developed a love for dogs at a young age. As he became a young man, he enjoyed personal fitness and martial arts, rising to the rank of black belt. A mechanic at heart, Bob loved to tinker with electronics and learn every detail about how and why some things work.
Although he always took the time to enjoy the finer things in life, Bob was a committed and dedicated professional in the HVAC community.
He spent over 40 years as a sheet metal worker for Local 18, specializing in diagnostics and repair. He loved his profession and was proud to have trained many apprentices.
In healthier times, he loved to play golf on various leagues. Most of all, he loved spending time in the tranquil, loving home he created with Kathy and spending time with their grand dog Meatball, who made Bob smile each day.
Bob’s wishes will be honored with a private family gathering with no service. A celebration of life will be held this summer. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you for the professional and kind service provided by Hospice House in Bob’s final days.
