Rose C. Gross, age 97, passed away at Parkside Manor on Monday, February 1, 2021.
She was born on November 20, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Santo and Modesta Vite. She was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School.
On November 1, 1947, Rose was united in marriage to Herbert Gross. For 58 years they built a beautiful marriage and raised a family of four children. Sadly, Herbert passed away on January 9, 2006.
She was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where her children went to school. She helped the nuns by sewing their habits as well as altar cloths for the masses. Later she joined Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. She was a Girl Scout leader as well as Boy Scout leader for her children’s troops.
Rose was employed with Simmons, Peter Pirsch, Hrupka Meat Market, Maplecrest Country Club and Gross Landscaping, her husband’s business. She was a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother to her children. Rose had a passion for cooking and baking, knitting, reading and painting. She played the violin in the Kenosha Symphony Orchestra and used her vocals to sing in Chicago nightclubs with the Vic Parise band.
She is survived by her children, Paulette (Randy) Feest, Steven Gross and Jeffrey (Dawn Winegarden) Gross; her grandchildren, Melanie (Tom) Kunath, Sara (Anton) Funtek and Jeremy (Cody) Feest and her two great grandchildren, Kaylee and Kade Feest.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert Gross, her son, Herbert John Gross and her sister, Virginia Polansky.
Funeral services honoring the life of Rose will be held privately.
