Ruth Coakley, 100, of Kenosha passed away on September 30, 2023, at Cedarhurst of Kenosha surrounded by her loving family. She was just three days shy of her 101st birthday.
Ruth was born on October 3, 1922, in Huron, S.D., the daughter of the late Herbert and Martha (Powell) Walker. She grew up on a farm and loved to talk about that time of her life.
Ruth married Donald Coakley on October 3, 1941, in Toulon, IL. Ruth and her husband moved to Kenosha in 1960 and lived there until 1984. She moved back to Kenosha in 2003 after her husband passed to be closer to family. Ruth’s love for Jesus Christ was strong and she was prayer warrior. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, camping and volunteering. Ruth volunteered with Warm-Up America, New Tribes Mission, Meals on Wheels, the Shalom Center and at her church. Most of all, she loved spending time with her friends and family. She spent her last years at Cedarhurst Assisted Living where she loved to participate in all the activities.
Survivors include her children, Fran (Richard) Jensen of Gurnee, IL, Ronald (Anne) Coakley of Bedford, TX, Beth Blair of Plymouth, MN; also included are her 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 siblings and her daughter, Marty.
A grave side celebration of life will be held in the spring in Kewanee, IL.
