Sally Herstedt, 77, of Kenosha, unexpectedly and peacefully passed away, doing what she loved (crafting/sewing), on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024.
Sally was born in Kenosha, the daughter of the late Henry Herstedt (Kenosha) and Mildred (Lundberg) Herstedt (Chicago). A Bradford HS graduate, Sally married Ken Wermeling as an office employee of American Motors and later became a working mother at Big Boy on 75th. Sally later went back to secretarial work for nearly 30 years, achieving Assistant to the President of Jupiter Transportation (Dallas-Maverick, KAT & ATC) while transporting Kenosha made cars and parts and more across the world.
Many others will remember her as a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran, a bowler, proud softball and band wife and mother, and crafter and sewer at the Kenosha Senior Center and many prior events including the Danish Brotherhood annual craft fair.
Survivors include her son, Tim Wermeling of Kenosha/Chicago; grandchildren, Tyson, Sofia, Lily, Chloe and Lucinda; sister, Susan Herstedt of Kenosha. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Karl and Thomas Herstedt and beloved daughter, Laurie Wermeling.
A visitation will be held on Thursday April 18, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Kenosha), from 9:00AM-10:30 AM, with funeral services at 10:30 AM.
