Sally M. Epping, 89, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Brookside Care Center.
She was born on June 7, 1933 and was raised by the late Leonard and Elizabeth (Schwaiger) Koehler in Kenosha. She attended Durkee, St. Mark’s, Lincoln, Bradford and Kenosha vocational schools. She graduated from Bradford in 1952. She also attended various classes at Gateway Technical Institute.
On May 12, 1956, she married Charles (Chuck) Epping at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on August 14, 2020.
Sally is survived by her children Scott (Erin) Epping, Mark (Elizabeth) Epping, Linda Miller, Sandy (Grant) Karsten, Carol (John) Reichardt and Diane (Ken Ropp) Epping, her 16 grandchildren and her 13 great grandchildren.
Sally worked at Simmons Company for several years. After her children were older, she worked at St. Catherine’s, A&W Drive-In, Sears and for Dr. R. Heller (Periodontist).
Sally was a current member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and earlier associated with St. Mark’s, St. Mary’s, St. George and Mount Carmel Catholic Churches.
Sally was involved with many of her children’s activities while they were going to St. George Catholic School. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader and a member of St. George Christian Mothers.
Sally enjoyed playing cards, camping, bowling, golfing, working with children, baking, cooking crafts, knitting, sewing and traveling to all 50 states, China, Spain, Australia, Portugal, Mexico and New Zealand. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Visitation for Sally will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church (9091 Prairie Ridge Blvd). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 9th at 9:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church with a visitation starting at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.
