Susan McClure, 71 years old of Kenosha, WI formerly of Racine, WI passed away in her home on Monday April 10. 2023.
Susan was born on November 11, 1951, and raised in Sterling, Illinois, the daughter of the late Earl and Sally (Casey) Stewart. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1969 and later would live in Iowa and Wisconsin.
Affectionately called Susie, she had a love of animals, of any kind except snakes. In her “zoo” as she referred to it, were many cats including Alowishes, Charmin, Elvira, Garfield, Sapphire, and Harley; to her dogs Gretchen, Tasha, Buffy, Trouble and the big guy, Adam.
Susie attended Capri Cosmetology and Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids Iowa. Susie was also a member of the Eagles Club #281 in Racine. Susie had an artistic side and loved to crochet, paint, sew, and do needle point but her true passion was knitting. She made many blankets for family and friends. Susie also loved to cook and was often the host and short order cook for her children’s trips to Mom’s house. No one ever could say they went hungry as long as you sent her a menu of what you would like to eat.
She is survived by her children, Katherine Fries of Cedar Rapids Iowa, Emily (Russ) Stutt of Newton Iowa, Shannon Lynaugh (Steve) and Ryan Stewart-Lynaugh of Racine; grandchildren Isabella and Jaydin of Racine; sister Sherry Stewart-Lynaugh of California. She is also survived by her Aunts Leola Casey and Sally Stewart and many cousins. And her beloved cat Kitten.
Susie also leaves behind former spouses Joe Fries, Grant McClure, and David Eppers.
Susie will be remembered as being feisty, loving and humorous with an unforgettable, unique, infectious laugh all the while sitting, talking and knitting. She will be greatly missed!
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date for family and friends.
