Thomas R. Bergstrom, 81 years old of Kenosha, WI passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Superior, WI on April 14, 1940, he was the son of the late Luther and Alphild (Klang) Bergstrom. He attended high school in Superior, WI and later relocated to Kenosha in 1959 when he gained employment with Nash/American Motors Corporation. On January 18, 1960, he married Judith Barthen in Dubuque, IA. For a few years, Thomas attended Gateway Technical School while working at American Motors, where he was a prototype builder and layout inspector; he retired after 41 years of service.
Thomas was a proud member of UAW Local #72, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Kenosha, as well as Zion Lutheran Church, Adams, WI. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and enjoyed boating. Thomas was also a former member of the Moose Lodge #286 and the Swedish American Club, Kenosha, WI. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and children to various places including Disney World, Yellowstone National Park, Arkansas, and Las Vegas, NV.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judith; four children, Linda (Ernest) Coleman of Kenosha, WI, John Bergstrom of Pflugerville, TX, Thomas (Phan) Bergstrom, Jr. of Rosewood, CA, and Derrick Bergstrom of Kenosha, WI; five grandchildren, Jamie, Sven, Ian, Robert, and Daniel; and six brothers, Wils (Myrna) Bergstrom, Bruce (Shirley) Bergstrom, Peter (Dorothy) Bergstrom, Michael (Jacquie) Bergstrom, Tim (Debbie) Bergstrom, and Mark (Linda) Bergstrom. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021, at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in St. George Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Diabetes Association, in his memory.
