Travis B. Gilliland, 91 years old of Kenosha, WI passed away Monday, April 22, 2024, at his home.
He was born July 5, 1932, in Greenwood Springs, Monroe County, MS, the son of the late Gurley and Reba (Faulkner) Gilliland. He grew up on the family farm in Mississippi and traveled north to find work at Nash Motors, Kenosha in 1950.
Travis retired from Chrysler (American Motors Corporation) as a gauge repairman in 1991 after 40 years of service. He also worked 10 years at Pepsi-Co. Travis proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged after two years. In 1952, he married Rosemary Fisher in Kenosha, WI. They had two sons, Tracy and Greg, and were later divorced. His hobbies included gardening, hunting and fishing. He was also sure to make it to his daily 3:00 p.m. bar time.
Survivors include his son, Tracy (Terri) Gilliland of Kenosha, WI; grandchildren, Tiffany Gilliland, TJ Gilliland, Stacy (Darin) Gilliland-Gaza and Jenna Gilliland; five great grandchildren, Auriana, Tain, Jaya, River and Sage.
In addition to his parents, Travis was preceded in death by his son, Gregory J. Gilliland; his friend, Anna Wladkowski; his former wife, Rosemary (Fisher); and siblings, Clinton Gilliland, Leona Gilliland, Imogene Gilliland, Roy Gilliland, Mady Gilliland, and Verlon Gilliland
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Proko Funeral Home. Funeral services will commence at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park, Somers, WI.
