Umile Andrea Covelli, 87, of Kenosha, WI passed away peacefully Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Grande Prairie Care and Rehab in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
Born on November 14, 1936, in Marano, Principato, Prov. of Cosenza, Italy, he was the son of the late Emilio and Rosaria (Gentile) Covelli. He immigrated to the United States in 1956 and settled in Kenosha, WI where he became a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
He married Donna Ruffalo on July 20, 1963, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Umile was employed by Peter Pirsch Co. for 35 years and then Paielli’s Bakery for 15 years, before his retirement.
In Umile’s younger years, he enjoyed playing soccer at Columbus Park in Kenosha and bowling. He spent many years as a member of the Italian American Club, Kenosha, and loved gardening. Growing tomatoes was his specialty. He was a diehard fan of the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers. Umile and Donna drove around “Scooping the Loop” in downtown Kenosha when dating, and as newlyweds.
Umile is survived by his wife of 61 years, Donna; children, Lanise (Tom) Patrizzi, Wendy (Eric) Cima, and Donna (Lewis) Zanon; granddaughter, Abigail Cima; brothers, Pierino (Carmela) Covelli of Kenosha, WI and Cesare (Mirella) Covelli of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law, Heidi Covelli; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Umile was preceded in death by his sister, Raffaela Ruffolo; brothers, Gaetano “Tom” Covelli and Aldo Covelli; and a nephew, Patrick Covelli.
Visitation for Umile will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Friday August 23, 2024, at Proko Funeral Home. Funeral Services will commence at 11:00 a.m. and interment at St. George Cemetery will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Grande Prairie Care and Rehab, 10330 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158, in his memory.
