Very Rev. Fr. Alexis W. Fedec (October 12, 1937 – July 14, 2024)
KENOSHA – Very Rev. Fr. Alexis W. Fedec, 86, of Kenosha, WI., passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 14, 2024, after a brief illness.
A native of Philadelphia, PA, Father Alexis was a retired Archpriest of The Orthodox Church in America. He graduated from Youngstown State University, Youngstown, OH. He then attended Christ the Savior Orthodox Seminary, Johnstown, PA, and Saint Tikhon’s Orthodox Seminary, South Canaan, PA, from which he graduated in 1962. He was ordained to the Orthodox priesthood at Holy Virgin Cathedral, New York, NY on Sunday, February 13, 1966.
Father Alexis was rector of Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church (Kenosha, WI) from 1975-2005, from which he retired as Pastor Emeritus. He previously served the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Church, Madison, IL; Three Saints Church, Ansonia, CT; Saints Peter and Paul Church, Minersville, PA; and Saints Cyril and Methodius Church, Jeannette, PA. He also served as Chicago Deanery Treasurer for the Diocese of the Midwest for many years.
During retirement, he enjoyed reading books on Church history, mystery novels, and watching his grandchildren play and grow.
Father Alexis is survived by his loving wife, Alexandra, and children: Alexios (Elizabeth), Matthew, Martha, Kyra, Serge (Elizabeth) and Andrew (Jamie), and five grandchildren.
